External line marking is the first impression people will have of your company and is part of your required health and safety regime.
Get it right first time.
In the same way that we give you the right solution for internal line marking we carry out the same process to ensure we provide you with the correct solution externally. Remember it’s not just a painted line, it not only has to look good but has to have longevity.
There are several products we offer to clients depending on the floor surface. Each system is explained below.
Hot Applied Thermoplastic
Hot-applied thermoplastic is a solid compound containing pigments, glass beads, binder and filler which becomes liquid when heated.
It offers many important benefits in terms of road safety including its high level of wet night visibility and the fact that it can be applied as both flat and structured markings.
The long lifespan of thermoplastic markings furthermore makes them a cost-effective solution as they demand less frequent maintenance or replacement.
Preformed Thermoplastic
Preformed thermoplastic brightens up everyday life and also helps make it safer and more fun. Our durable preformed markings are extremely effective on roads.
Placed directly in the driver’s line of sight and featuring well-known icons and symbols, they reduce risk in potentially dangerous areas. This especially helps protect more vulnerable road users and children.
Preformed markings are also really eye-catching away from the road. They can be used to create a maze in a playground, or a number snake in a schoolyard, or a logo on the approach to a company.
And there are so many more options too: You can choose from a host of different colours and shapes to recreate your ideas on the ground. We are more than happy to advise you on our colourful and broad range of options.
Traffic Paint
The paint used externally is OPE (One Part Epoxy) or (two part), MMA (methyl-Methacrylate) MMA is extremely durable, provides longevity, and can last as long as 10 years, even in the most extreme conditions. No other commonly used road marking products match MMA’s durability.
MMA is widely used in extreme winter conditions and high elevations due to its ability to withstand frequent snow plough hits and semi-trucks with chains and studded tires. MMA is also used in highly trafficked intersections, crosswalks, dedicated bike lanes and paths as it stands up to the constant stresses caused by stopping vehicles and turning tires.
MMA coatings consist of a two-part mixture that forms a chemical bond with a surface after the catalyst is properly mixed in. It requires no heating and may be applied at colder temps compared to thermoplastics. In addition, it requires no primer to bond to concrete. MMA paint cures in 15-30 minutes, mitigating the need for lengthy closures when applying the coating to roads and intersections. Its long service life also means less frequent maintenance. MMA is an ideal choice for long stretches of highways, roads, intersections as well as dedicated bike lanes and paths. As such, it has become the preferred marking system for applications which require durability and long-term performance.
Tape and Temporary Materials
Available in rolls. Many colours available. Easy to apply but also easy to remove. Different types give different wear characteristics i.e. foil type is very thin and wears faster than thicker multi-layer tapes. Expensive but easy to use. May require additional adhesives.
Suitable for smooth surfaces indoors or outdoors. Not suitable for open textured surfaces such as porous asphalt, SMA etc.
Tape and paints are available for temporary situations and are easily removed when no longer required. Used for sporting events i.e. marathons and TV/Film sets or advertising.
